Fall 2010: Paris Top Five

Miu Miu:

I don't know what it is about Miu Miu, but its always great! Especially, Spring 2010.

Balenciaga:

The Balenciaga collection was plenty-full of color, shape and fun. Also, the soundtrack was pretty awesome!

Dries Van Noten:

I kinda hated the 'leopard scarves at Dries but, the A-Line skirts paired with oversized sweaters made up for the sloppy scarves of sorts.

Hermes:

I guess you get Leather Catsuits, Button-ups-etc, when Jean Paul Gaultier designs for Hermes (what a sharp contrast compared to the 'Tennis Whites collection Gaultier did for Hermes S/10)!

Sonia Rykiel:

How could you not love Sonia Rykiel? I mean those Pom-Poms are the cutest!

Fall 2010: Milan Top Five

Emilio Pucci:

Emilio Pucci was extremely hot, from head-to-toe. I loved the sexiness and somewhat erotic vibe found in the sheer, laced-up numbers. However, the Hair reminds me of Ke$ha (not good).

Prada:

I hate to reiterate but, Prada was quite erotic with the accentuated bust and exaggerated shape. I also love that normal models were thrown into the mix (for once); however, for Miuccia to be one of the first of the season is quite odd. Maybe its a sign?

Dsquared2:

Dsquared2 is typically trashy and mostly denim. However, this season was mostly leather and fur (with the appropriate amount of 'trashy). I think it was one of their best collections [as of late].

Etro:

I don't normally pay much attention to Etro, since its usually cluttered with Maxi dresses and paisley prints. However, this collection was impeccably styled and tailored.

Versace:

At Versace, tailored coats and knitwear were paired with metallic crotch-skimming dresses. You know how I enjoy juxtaposition.

Fall 2010: London Top Five

Erdem:

Even though, this was an Autumn/Winter show, Erdem managed to squeeze in Florals, Colors and even 'happiness. The show opened with a Black Cape with painted florals-absolutey marvelous!

Charles Anastase:

I love the 'Circus-Clown vibe of this collection. Also, the girls look dramatically tall (due to the long silhouettes and outrageous platforms).

Burberry Prorsum:

The toughness combined with the distressed femininity creates a very interesting contrast. I really love those Aviator jackets; they're quite similar to those Balenciaga jackets.

Christopher Kane:

Once again (as mentioned for Burberry), the contrast between lace and 'dominatrixesque sandals is wonderful. Also, the painted florals are quite lovely in an Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.

Pringle of Scotland:

I think I'm only fond of the Pringle collection because their campaigns with Tilda Swinton are so wonderful! This collection is quite reminiscent of prior Balenciaga collections (specifically, Fall 2004; those Aviator jackets, again) , no?

'Bargain Hunting' at Aurora Farms

Jenny and I ventured out to Aurora Farms Premium Outlets today. By far, Saks Off 5th was my favorite. Above, Max Mara column dresses.

RIP Mr. McQueen

Its an extremely sad and tragic event. I still cannot grasp that McQueen has passed; he was a true visionary. I hope he managed to capture that freedom which he couldn't grasp in this lifetime. Do head on over to the Barney's blog, where Julie Gilhart wrote a nice piece on 'Lee'. I do worry about the future of the House of McQueen, may be they'll bring on a new Creative Director. But, no one will ever be able to live up to the iconoclastic, Alexander McQueen. Rest In Peace Mr. McQueen, you will be missed!

Diana Vreeland's Apartment

Diana Vreeland's Garden of Hell as decorated by Billy Baldwin. Diana Vreeland remains one of the few people I truly admire, not only for her superb taste but, for her 'I Don't Give a Hoot Attitude' and her wildly spontaneous risks. Risks which eventually led to her departure from Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. Her Harper's Bazaar column, 'Why Don't You...?' remains a favorite of mine which still runs in the UK edition of Harper's Bazaar. In the last photo (her Blue Bedroom), the scarf was placed onto the coverlet for which she would lay our her shoes and handbag in preparation for the busy day ahead.

Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2010

Chanel Haute Couture S/10 was easily my favorite as to date. I thought the "short-suits" were a fantastic, modern approach to the Classic Chanel skirt-suit. How fantastic was the finale; Baptiste as the "Tin Man"? Baptiste reminded me of my Kindergarten Halloween costume, emphasis on Tin Man! Also, Dior was quite boring,no? I love Galliano, but you always know what to expect; a bombardment of Historical references as apposed to anything Modern.
